Sherwood Anderson Is Talking To Me

BiB i journal     Sherwood Anderson is talking to me!

Sherwood Anderson was a writer and a contemporary of Hemingway, Faulkner, Steinbeck, Wolfe and Gertrude Stein  – The Lost Generation.  He helped Hemingway and Faulkner secure their first publishers and yet Sherwood is all but lost to us now. “Winesburg,Ohio”, his most famous book, is a series of short stories set in a small mid western town that opens the emotional underpinnings of the inhabitants. Touching, lonely and desperate people.

Sherwood’s willingness, nay, his singular intent to lay bare what lies beneath had a remarkable impact on other writers of his generation. Not all were happy about his influence. Hemingway, known for his unkindness, penned a parody.

So why is he coming to me in my dreams? Maybe you are talking to many of us, encouraging us to open more avenues of what lies beneath and what lies above. Whatever it is, It is very enticing.

Bur do keep coming!  I am grateful for the encounter!  and I know the fulness of it will be revealed to me.
