Being in the Moment

In today’s work an exercise of a compelling personal monologue and subsequent work opened a door for M. to move into herself with a deeper understanding.  This work will effect her trust and  the use of herself to  be more fully ‘in the moment’. “Being in the moment” is a catch phrase that is bandied around and has lost its initial charge. “To be in the moment” originated with great acting that was spurred from the naturalism with the Actor’s Studio and the powerful change that was initiated by Marlon Brando, Elia Kazan and James Dean. A sharp, blinding reality and an unmistaken metaphor for truth. So, we can talk about this phrase as a trust in oneself without judgment and a willingness to reveal anything that is necessary. This is what moves a modern audience, people pay for and casting associates never forget. This is called risking all.
